Projects.
A decade of builds, ventures, residencies, and experiments. Some are finished. Some are still being argued with.

Augmentation Lab ↗
A 1,000+ member global community of philosopher-builders developing human enhancement tech across AI, BCI, wearables, XR, and low-tech tools. Three summer residencies, 50+ projects, 45 fellows, the Human Augmentation Summit (300+ attendees).

A(I)nimism — AI is the new god
"The world used to be a sacred place, full of chatty and companionable objects." A portal enabling you to speak with the spirit in each object. Multimodal AI bringing life back to things.
NeuroChat ↗
A neuroadaptive AI tutor that combines generative AI with real-time EEG to personalize learning. Closed-loop adjustment of complexity, style, and pacing. With Pattie Maes. CUI '25.

Measuring Confusion with EEG & Eye-Tracking ↗
Detecting reading-induced confusion through EEG and eye-tracking signals — toward interfaces that notice when a reader gets lost. With Pattie Maes.
AI Avatars for Dating ↗
Data-driven AI avatars exploring depth and authenticity in digital dating beyond swipe-based valuation. With Pattie Maes.

Society of Scientists
1st place at the AGI House × Sundai AI Agents Hackathon at MIT. 9 specialized AI agents on Jamba long-context models that read literature, brainstorm, and draft a grant proposal from a single research prompt.

Scientist AI Twins
MIT class project on personalized AI agents modeled after real scientists, grounded in their top-cited papers. Two twins in conversation: one proposes, one challenges. Toward automated digital science twins as a primitive for hypothesis generation.

Sustainable Technology Goals ↗
Guideposts for a future we want. A call for a collective, transdisciplinary effort to codify principles for present-day technology development. Organized by the Augmentation Lab.

DIY AI Pin ↗
How to make Humane for less than $100. Wearable AI is the hot new Silicon Valley trend — I'm making my own open-source, cheap AI pin.

Conceptual Tales
Teaching concepts through AI-generated analogies from popular story worlds. With Pattie Maes.

Photobleach ↗
HTMAA Machining Week group project: build a complete machine in one week, mechanism to UI. A CoreXY rig that prints photographs onto fabric in bleach or ink, decomposing each image into droplets via halftoning, path planning, and drop sizing. I led the 19-person team — ironically, as I wasn't even a Harvard student.

Send Me a Cute Message From Anywhere ↗
HTMAA networking + applications week: a tiny ESP32 stitched to four 8×8 LED matrices, polling a Glitch-hosted Node server for the latest message. Anyone with the link can send a note that lights up on the desk.

Enact!
Augmenting difficult conversations through AI-mediated role-play.

Imagination Engine II
Exploring image reconstruction from low-channel EEG.

Augmentation Residency 2023
